Aviation

O’Kelly Kasprak's specialized experience in aviation, including retail and kitchen design has provided their team with a unique understanding of what an airport renovation entails. Alongside several major aviation teams, OKK has worked on very rigorous timelines to create seamless terminal upgrades including dining, retail, and lounge experiences for travelers across the country. The complexity of aviation projects as well as the high demand of a true synthesis of beautiful and functional space, make OKK well suited to the challenge.

The Hampton Social

at O'Hare International Airport

O’Kelly Kasprak worked with Chicago Hospitality Partners to bring the East Coast to O’Hare’s Terminal 5.  The space features design cues from coastal living, including beachy vibes and nautical flare. Hemp rope, washed-out woods, pops of nautical blue, and an indoor/outdoor feel help set the scene.  With an attitude of “rosé all day”, travelers can take a break from the hustle of the airport.

OKK worked closely with Executive Chef Fabio Viviani and Chicago Hospitality Partners in the development of Bar Siena at Terminal 5 in Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. OKK strove to capture the design essence of the successful Bar Siena predecessors in downtown Chicago, bringing the same vibe to the airport.  One of the features of the design is the iconic lit tree, creating a great backdrop to the bar.  Travelers can now escape everyday travel with a lively casual Italian meal.

OKK worked with operator SSP Americas to energize the Ottawa International Airport through upgraded amenities. Big Rig Kitchen and Brewery brings craft drafts and culinary flare, Marche du Canal Market Hall is a multi-station experience highlighting beloved local eateries La Bottega and Bridgehead Coffee. OKK developed designs that are both modern and functional, working closely with the airport to ensure seamless transitions. Our highly adaptable team tackled metric drawing requirements and Canadian building codes with ease.

O’Kelly Kasprak is thrilled to be spearheading a $40M, multi-phase food service renovation including 24 restaurants, several temporary concessions, food court, and off site commissary kitchen. Complexity of the project includes obtaining City of Chicago, FAA, and tenant approvals for each aspect of the project. Public Safety, MEP coordination, and coordination with the Airport itself are especially intense aspects of this project.

Indianapolis International Airport

The Indianapolis International Airport has been voted Best Airport in North America multiple years running, and OKK has been excited to spearhead the ongoing commitment to keep it current. As part of a multi-phase process, the well-known local favorite Sun King Brewery opened a location in Concourse B. Soon to come are Harry and Izzy’s, Farmer’s Market featuring Indiana Grown, Bento Sushi and Bub’s Burgers to add even more variety to the offerings.

Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana

at Minneapolis St-Paul International Airport

Known for the mastery of a particular pizza style found in Naples, Italy, Settebello brings cultural cuisine to the Minneapolis St-Paul International Airport.  The iconic pizza features specific ingredients local to Naples prepared in a traditional manner and is cooked in a special oven.  O’Kelly Kasprak sought to carve a unique environment out the airport terminal to bring a bit of ambiance to the restaurant.  Tivoli lights, textured ceilings, and Italian art take traveler’s to Italy for a bite to eat, even if that is not their destination.

Dane County Regional Airport

Tackling the renovation of the Food Retail Spaces at Dane County Regional Airport in Madison Wisconsin, The OKK design team was tasked with creating distinct dining experiences for Ancora Artisan Coffee and Tea, Metcalfe’s Local To-Go, Madtown Gastropub, and Vinoteca Wine and Tapas. Working to create a cohesive Madison experience while maintaining each brand’s unique identity, the design team worked with separate color palettes and materials to give each restaurant its own look and feel. The final product offers patrons a comfortable escape from the chaos of the airport terminal.
