Sharing a city with Michigan State University, OKK took cues from the collegiate look and feel of Lansing. Color inspiration and a nod to the expansion era of MSU (1920s–1950s) influenced the design concept throughout the hotel.  Also, home to the State Capitol, the hotel hosts many high-profile groups for both the University and the local government. Due to the property converting from a Radisson, special attention was paid to better suit the context of the property and the DoubleTree by Hilton brand.
